YouTube plays a different but important role in how you watch GTA 6. It is where Rockstar posts its official trailers and reveals, where a huge amount of GTA gameplay and live coverage already sits, and where many creators will stream and upload after launch. This guide covers all of it: the confirmed official source, YouTube Live gameplay, and how YouTube viewing differs from Twitch.
Official Rockstar trailers and reveals
This is the most important fact on the page. Rockstar publishes its official GTA 6 trailers and reveals to its own YouTube channel, and that channel is the confirmed home for any official footage. Confirmed If you want to see real, verified GTA 6 material, the trailers and the Extended Look there are it, the official look at Vice City, the wider state of Leonida, and protagonists Jason and Lucia.
Anything outside Rockstar's official uploads claiming to be GTA 6 gameplay is not confirmed and is frequently fake, modded or mislabelled. Subscribing to Rockstar's official channel and turning on notifications is the cleanest way to catch the next real reveal the moment it goes up.
Rockstar's two newest uploads
"Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look" premiered on Netflix on 27 August 2026 and reached Rockstar's YouTube channel six hours later, at 9pm ET. The roughly 27-minute film was the first long look at in-game footage, captured on PS5. In the live reaction wave that followed, YouTube carried about 34.8% of co-stream hours watched, second to Twitch, according to Streams Charts (Inven Global). Confirmed
On 15 October 2026 Rockstar followed it with the 90-second Launch Trailer, again captured on PS5 and set to "Flower in a Hurricane" by Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Confirmed
YouTube Live gameplay
After GTA 6 launches, YouTube Live becomes a major place to watch gameplay. Many creators stream directly to YouTube, and plenty who primarily use Twitch or Kick also simulcast or post full VODs there. To find GTA 6 on YouTube once it is out:
- Search the GTA 6 live filter to see who is currently streaming.
- Subscribe to GTA creators so their live streams and uploads appear in your feed.
- Use VODs and highlight uploads to catch up on anything you missed, a YouTube strength.
Until launch there is no GTA 6 gameplay to stream, so any "GTA 6 live gameplay" before release is unverified. Leak / rumour
YouTube vs Twitch for GTA 6
The two platforms suit different viewing habits:
- Live vs library. Twitch is built around live, in-the-moment viewing and chat. YouTube does live too, but its real strength is the library: trailers, VODs, highlights and recaps you can watch any time.
- Drops. Twitch Drops are a Twitch feature that Rockstar has used for GTA Online. YouTube has no equivalent Rockstar rewards programme, so if a GTA 6 Drops campaign is ever announced, Twitch is where it would run. None had been announced as of 25 October 2026.
- Discovery. YouTube's recommendation engine surfaces clips and reveals to a vast audience, which is why GTA 6 trailers reach hundreds of millions of views. Twitch discovery centres on who is live now.
- Official footage. This is YouTube's clear edge: Rockstar's official trailers and reveals live there.
A simple way to split your viewing: YouTube for official reveals, trailers and catch-up; Twitch for live streams, roleplay and Drops.
